Grimbroar Keep
Nestled in the forested hills of western Ere-Hvon, Grimbroar was the ancestral home of Clan Hardizand for close to 1000 yaerns. The surrounding hills had rich nickel and silver mines, while fine veins of iron ore were found below Grimbroar itself. First settled as a guard post and supply center for several nearby mines, Grimbroar was vastly enlarged by Hardizand to be able to support over 30 Khazad warriors and their families in separate dwellings. A nearby cavern complex was co-opted and incorporated into the hold for underground agriculture and access to the hold's own mines. As trade grew with other Khazad communities, galleries were built on the 2nd level to give communal space for the Holds population. In all, some 100 chambers on the three levels of Grimbroar were built.

The upper level was the original barracks and supply area. The second level was the largest worked area, which held family dwellings, shops & workshops. The third level was primarily cavernous and led to several mining shafts.

No surviving Khazad lives who was there for the exodus of Grimbroar. Many stories about it exist among the kinfolk of their decendents, stories that have left a smoldering fire deep in the heart of all members of clan Hardizand, a burning desire to return and retake what was the most prized jewel of the family, the hold itself.

Two generally known entrances exist to Grimbroar - The main one was a double door, cunningly hidden to the outside and originally opened with a word of command. It is known that this door was sealed from the inside during the exodus. Another entrance was said to be via the vast uncharted caverns that lay beneath Grimbroar. Perhapes other entrances exist that only members of Hardizand remember, but none will speak of those outside the Clan.
